Take a tour of the island to orient yourself. Campobello Sightseeing tours will show you the island including Friars Head, Liberty Point, Roosevelt Campobello International Park Natural Area, Head Harbour, and East Quoddy Light House. 506-752-1901

Hike or bike the trails in Roosevelt International Park. Have coffee, lunch or dinner at The Porch at Friars Bay Inn and Cottages, famous for its lattes, baking and fresh home-made food. Be sure to have a piece of chocolate cake with peanut butter icing.

Drop in to the Campobello Island Gift House for Campobello Island tshirts and sweatshirts, candy and snacks, souvenirs and gifts, children’s toys, books, crafts and jewellery. Buy delicious ice cream cones at The Scoop Shack when you leave.

Visit the island’s two lighthouses, The Head Harbour and the Mulholland Point Lighthouse. Feeling adventurous? The Head Harbour lighthouse is accessible to hikers at low tide via a series of ladders and paths. See Friends of Head Harbour Lightstation.

Play golf at the beautiful Herring Cove golf course overlooking the sea, followed by lunch or dinner at the Herring Cove Golf Lodge.

Visit Roosevelt Campobello International Park, tour the Roosevelt and Humboldt Cottages, then order lunch at the historic Prince Cottage, all within easy walking distance from each other. Go to Eleanor’s Tea at the Wells-Shober Cottage in the Roosevelt Park for free at 11 am or with tickets at 3 pm and learn about Eleanor Roosevelt’s life of activism and public service. 506-752-2922

Watch for eagles, whales and seals on a kayak tour around the island with Seascape Kayak Tours (506-747-1884) then enjoy lunch or a sunset dinner on the deck at The Pier Waterfront on Pollock Cove. Whales can often be seen in the water off Pollock Cove while you eat.

Visit Campobello’s working fishing boat harbour at Head Harbour then stop at Point Star Seafood to buy fresh fish.

Spend a morning, afternoon or evening on a whale-watching tour with East Quoddy Tours, departing from the Welshpool wharf beside Campobello’s historic library and museum. You might see five different species of whales and you’ll have great views of the island. They also offer deep sea fishing trips and sunset cruises.

Take East Coast Ferries (506-396-2628) departing Campobello on the half-hour to Deer Island and explore their eclectic shops and restaurants. Have afternoon tea and buy beautiful New Brunswick crafts at Marine Texture before taking the ferry home on the hour.

Cross the bridge to Lubec, Maine for the Saturday morning farmer’s market, have coffee at Northstar Coffee, or order a wonderful seafood meal at Fisherman’s Wharf Restaurant and Seafood overlooking fishing boats.

Visit Lubec’s new gift shop Lubec Coastal Gifts and have fresh fish and chips on their back deck overlooking the narrows under the Federation Bridge. Browse another great gift store at Moon & Tide Mercantile before you come back.

Ride a ferry or water taxi from Lubec to Eastport (beginning June 26, call 207-853-2635) and browse the town’s many shops and historic buildings and markers. Lunch on the deck of The Happy Crab or Waco Diner are both excellent.
